We founded and operate a group of tiny organic farms in the southern tip of the Rocky Mountains near the Continental Divide in the historic New Mexico adobe village of Monticello where the population is fewer than 25 people—and with fewer than 50 dwellers in our entire 23-mile long valley.
Almost none of the world's problems stemming from large population and unhealthy modern practices exist here.
It is stunningly quiet. The air is clean and clear. Frequent clear weather days regularly begin and end with dramatic shows of colored light. Nights glow startlingly with the Milky Way and with stars reaching down nearly as far as the horizon.
Our farms are located in one of the large dark areas seen from orbiting satellites.
When we began our land was fallow, and we make every effort to respect and nourish the land we cultivate, as do other small surrounding organic farms and grass-fed beef and bison ranches. Our water supply is strictly from our own wells.
We never use herbicides, pesticides or other harmful sprays, amendments or practices. Here, hand tending of plants and gardens nearly always trumps mechanization.
Cell phones don't work here.
Our beautiful adobe casitas with equipped kitchens for short-term rental in our rustic village
